The presentation by these first responders gave action points that every household or business site should set up. Chuck Stiver of MC EMA emphasized communication needs to be simplified to dispatchers and first responders avoiding confused and misunderstood reason for the call and preparing the responders of the type of emergency. Chief Greg Glauner spoke on several safety issues. One take away noted had to do with gas service and what to look for in case of Carbon Monoxide exposure. When you see a BLUE FLAME you have clean burning natural gas without Carbon Monoxide presence. However, if you have a YELLOW FLAME that indicates a CO2 presence which you must have serviced before continued use. Chief Glauner also suggests that a having CO2 & Smoke Detectors is a must in all dwellings. BPD OFC. Brian Mummert shared that their department are adding more training in dealing with mental health issues when answering calls. Ofc.
